News reports say an anonymous tip prompted police to get a search warrant for a local house. County sheriff and city police departments joined forces to execute the warrant. The search allegedly yielded over $71,000 worth of drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine and crack cocaine, marijuana and synthetic cannabinoids. The methamphetamine is reported to have a street value of approximately $40,000. Drug paraphernalia was also apparently found at the scene.
The man was arrested and charged with five counts of drug possession and intent to distribute, as well as one count of possessing drug paraphernalia. He is being held on $82,500 bond. Apparently, the man is also suspected of a parole violation because the state and city probation and parole departments have placed a hold on him.
While Louisiana police are celebrating the removal of the drugs from the street, the man being held is now facing a lifetime of uncertainty. If his parole or probation was from a previous drug crime, another conviction may bring serious consequences. It is likely that the man has contacted an attorney who is experienced in defending against drug charges.
