Corey Feldman might be best known for his acting in popular movies, like “The Goonies” and “The Lost Boys,” but he recently made national news for something much different. Feldman is currently facing drug charges after marijuana was found in his vehicle. He was held by Louisiana authorities for only a short time after his arrest.
The actor was traveling for a tour with Corey Feldman & The Angels — his band — at the time of his arrest. Feldman was allegedly speeding while behind the wheel of the band’s tour bus when Louisiana police initiated a traffic stop. Although it is not clear why, his license was apparently suspended, which prompted police to take him into custody.
At the station, one of the officers claimed that Feldman smelled like marijuana, which prompted a search of the tour bus. Police claim that they found marijuana somewhere inside the bus but did not disclose how much or exactly where it was found. Feldman denied that the drug belonged to him, instead claiming that one of his crew members used marijuana medicinally. He points out that the drug was not found on him and believes that he was only charged because it was found inside of his vehicle.
Drug charges are a serious matter that should not be taken lightly. Even minor offenses can have a profound impact on a defendant’s life, with consequences ranging from legal — including jail time and fines — to personal, negatively affecting potential employment and education opportunities. Louisiana defendants should be sure to review all of their charges and related evidence when deciding how to proceed, as doing so can create the best possible criminal defense foundation.
